Aim: To create a space for 5-7 people with a 'pedestrian style' sequence, connected through soft and hard edges. Pedestrian style meaning people can walk through/past the whole space, i.e. they must all be connected to each other in some way but does not have to be linear or any certain shape.
Materials:
A4 paper - base Coloured pens Wooden blocks
180 gsm card A4 size blu tack craft knife or scalpel A3 cutting mat 1:50 people camera
Instructions:
1. Create a space for 5-7 people by first placing your blocks in the order you would like to have your sequence/circulation in as a representation of different architectural elements/buildings. Be creative, you do not have to follow the photo example.
2. Add in thresholds- soft and/or hard edges using paper and blu tack to connect the blocks.
3. Populate your model using the 1:50 people and take photos
4. Trace around your blocks and paper using different colours to represent the circulation, the blocks and the paper and create a bubble diagram.
